Who We Are….For nine years It’s Showtime NYC! (IST) has provided professional development and work opportunities to NYC’s street/club and subway dancers. A program of the non-profit organization Dancing in the Streets, IST rehearses weekly. Our rehearsals are held at Mark Morris Studios in downtown Brooklyn and other dance studios. Dancers have performed in major performing arts centers, community arts festivals, tours, taught in NYC public schools, offered dance workshops to international tourists, and have repeatedly secured corporate and commercial work. Our training focuses on developing stage/street performances, enhancing choreographic skills, furthering freestyle range, teaching artist development, professional etiquette, branding, and basic professional administrative skills. For ambitious dancers, there are opportunities for administrative work and leadership roles within our organization. Rehearsals, workshops and outside dance work are all paid opportunities. Dancers are paid electronically every two weeks to participate in the program.
New in Spring 2025: Dancers will have the opportunity to be considered for two different programs led by Cal Hunt, Artistic and Program Director of It’s Showtime NYC
Professional Development: Rehearsals every Monday, 7 - 9 pm and every Friday, 6-9 pm (6 month contract) starting first week of April, 2025: Pays each dancer: $18/hour
Select dancers will have the opportunity to work on a new dance piece choreographed by Bones the Machine.
MAAD (Movement Arts Advanced Development): Every Saturday afternoon* for 3 hours (12 week contract, with possibility to be invited into an additional 18 week program), starting first week of April, 2025. Pays each dancer $25/hour (*we may need to swap out one Saturday rehearsal for a Wednesday or Thursday night rehearsal in June)
OPEN TO: Dancers: 18+ years who are NYC and surrounding residents currently hitting in New York City. All street/club dance styles, freestyle or choreo, are welcome!
DANCER COMMITMENT: You will be expected to show up on time to all rehearsals, reply to emails within 24-48 hours, and fully participate in all rehearsals, workshops, and meetings.
HOW TO APPLY to be considered for an audition: Fill out form below and include a link to a one minute dance video of you dancing. We welcome videos showing your freestyle or choreography. You can shoot this on your phone and send us a link to a social media page where your video is posted.
Please fill out form below and include a dance video link no later than March 24, 2025. CLOSING at 9 PM.
On March 27th those of you who are invited to audition will receive an email from admin@itsshowtime.nyc. That email will provide information about the audition on Saturday, March 29, in Brooklyn from 1-5 pm. Be prepared to dance and be interviewed. Please save the date!
Accepted dancers into either It’s Showtime NYC program will start rehearsals the first week of April.
